The Fugees Effect

The Fugees Family is a non profit organization based in Clarkston, Georgia that helps child survivors of war rebuild their lives after resettlement. When refugee children arrive in the United States, they are place in age appropriate class rooms regardless of their level of formal education or English. In Clarkston, only 36% of English language learners graduate from high school. With a more appropriate educational plan for refugee children, this number can be turned around, which is exactly what the Fugees Family is trying to do. Last year we purchased 19 acres of land on which we will be building the first school for refugees in the country. The goal is to have the doors to the Fugees Academy open by fall 2012, but for this to happen we must raise $5million by July.
