I'd like to take credit for that little piece of lyrical genius that is this blog post's title, but to understand its true origins, we'll have to look back to Angels in the Outfield, Lethal Weapon and Predator 2. What do all these movies have in common, other than the fact that they are all awesome? They also star a real-life BAMF...Danny Glover. I know what you're thinking: Danny Glover had some memorable lines in his movies, most notably, "I'm too old for this shit," but nothing involving experimental poets and degradation of the female gender. What he did do, however, is have a son, named Donald Glover, who followed in his father's footsteps and became known as the wise-cracking, letter-jacket-wearing recent high school graduate in the sitcom Community. Where am I going with all this? Well, Donald Glover has recently been getting a fair amount of attention from the blog community for his new persona, Childish Gambino, who happens to be a talented hip-hop artist with a lil' Lil' Wayne flavor to his flows, but with more black-indie hipsterness. And his shit is actually really good. Those who follow hypem even just a tiny bit should know his single "Freaks and Geeks" was riding at #1 in the "popular" songs section for a few weeks. He's actually got an entire EP out now that really shows off his impeccable flow and some of the most entertaining plays on words since Tha Carter III. Download it right now.
